What kind of a church are you?
First and foremost, we are a church that believes and teaches the Bible. The format of our services is contemporary, using a praise band. Our Bible lessons are topical and relevant. Occasionally we show videos and present dramas. However, the centerpiece of The Crossroads is our small group ministry, not our services.

Tell me more about small groups.
We believe that God calls us to be in relationship with one another, and that spiritual growth happens best in small groups. No matter how large The Crossroads grows, we never want to be a church where you're just a number. Therefore, we encourage everyone to get involved in a small group. Small groups meet weekly in homes to study the Bible, pray, and share life together. They are not cliques, but are instead intended to reach out to even more people.

How should I dress for the services?
At The Crossroads, most people come
casual, and some not-so-casual, but
what is ultimately important is our
heart attitude toward God.

I have kids, so do I need to find a babysitter?
No problem! We have committed,
trustworthy volunteers at The
Crossroads to care for infants and
toddlers in our nursery. We also
have Children's Church for
elementary school aged children,
geared especially for their
interests and needs. If you would
rather bring your infant to the
service (instead of placing them in
the nursery), that is acceptable as
well.

Who leads the church?
Jesus Christ is the head of our
church (Colossians 1:18). Our desire
is to daily submit to His will for
us. He has called a team of pastors
to be the visible leaders (or,
rather, shepherds) at The
Crossroads. We call this a
pastor-led church. God calls these
pastor/leaders to equip the members
for ministry. (Ephesians 4:11) So in
effect we are all one body, with
different missions, under the
leadership of Jesus Christ.

What Christian denomination do you belong to?
We are
affiliated with Converge Worldwide,
an international evangelical church
planting movement.
We are a trans-denominational
church, meaning that while
independent, we relate to any
evangelical Christian organization
with common interests and beliefs.
We are affiliated with several such
organizations, but prefer not to be
typecast by a denominational title.

What version of the Bible do you use?
In our regular meetings, we use the New
International Version (NIV), because of it’s readability and
accuracy. While most translations are good, we believe a “modern
English” Bible enhances your ability to both understand and enjoy
God’s word.

Why don't you pass a plate for offerings?
In 1st
Corinthians 16, the Apostle Paul instructs the church about an
offering for the suffering Believers in Jerusalem, and in verse 2 he
says: “On the first day of every week, each one of you should set
aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so
that when I come no collections will have to be made.” We believe
that the church is not supposed to be a collection agency. We prefer
to view giving as an act of worship. Rather than passing a plate, we
place a basket up front. If you desire to worship God with your
money, you may offer it during the singing. We also place a basket
in the back in case you wish to be more discreet. Checks can be made
out to "The Crossroads." Also, we ask that you use the envelopes
provided at the door if you would like your gift to be
tax-deductible.

Why the name?
We
call our church "The Crossroads" because Johnson Creek is found at
the intersection of I-94 and State Road 26, a significant crossroads
for the area. Also, the village motto is “Johnson Creek, the
crossroads with a future". In spiritual terms, we all find
ourselves at various crossroads as we journey through life. It is
our desire to point people to Jesus Christ, as they contemplate the
direction of their lives. In the book of Proverbs 3:5-6, we are
told, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your
own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will direct
your paths.” (NLT) We don’t need to guess which road to take as we
trust God. He will guide us.
